Symbology
Diana is a Roman deity. Known as the maiden huntress she represents all that is wild and free. She was mother of Aradia and the twin of Apollo. Diana became a moon Goddess and is closely associated with magic . During the European witch hunts she was perceived as the queen of the witches.
In this stamp Diana is pictured in all her beauty wearing a headress of leaves to represent the forest. In her left hand she holds a crescent moon shaped sickle, a symbol which represents both the moon and the harvest.
