Description
This is a fabulous, unique, handcrafted cloak, made by Carol. This is a medium weight, half circle, unlined, hooded cloak suitable for outdoor wear in Spring/Summer/ Autumn. It is made from an wool/polyamid fabric. The wool mix makes this cloak very toasty and warm. There is a hook and eye fastening at the neck concealed beneath a two-button-and-chain fastening which allows the cloak to be worn closed using the hooks, or open (swept back over the shoulders) using the buttons and chain.
This is a shorter length cloak. It will fit a shorter or younger person or can be worn as a 3/4 length cloak.This cloak is unisex and designed to fit from about a UK size 10 up to about a UK size 22 (US size 1X). These cloaks are very roomy and fit both men and women. The hoods are also really roomy and sit well on the head when up in a scottish widows type style.
It has a scalloped hem and is slightly longer at the back than the front. From front neck to hem, the length is 35 inches (89cm). From back neck to hem the length is 441/2 inches (1.13m).
Full washing instructions are provided with each cloak. This particular cloak needs dry cleaning. It can be ironed on a low/medium synthetic setting.
Symbology
Cloaks and robes are often worn for ritual celebrations. Perhaps this hearkens back to a time when people had to be more secretive and a dark cloak could help conceal your identity as well as keep you warm.
